In spring I cut the bottoms off water jugs and soda bottles, and use them as miniature greenhouses for seedlings.

Yep, that's a wonderful idea. I can set up a table in my laundry room and use it for seeding and starting without the cats getting into them. And with windows on North, East and West I should get plenty of good sun angles. It's not heated or ac'd, though, so I'll have to watch temps.
