Black March

Here's a call to boycott the media in March.  Personally, I recommend spending your entertainment budget on independent or crowdfunded stuff instead of going without.  It's not like you have not alternatives to the monopolists.  Watch an indie movie, read a self-published book, buy a CD from a busker.

This does touch on one of my other interests, family and community. I encourage people to make their own entertainment, which is cheap or free. Hold a family game night. Sing or play a musical instrument. Recite poetry or drama. Tell stories. Take up a craft or hobby -- bonus if it makes something useful, like knitting an afghan. Visit a park. You don't HAVE to depend on other people for your entertainment, although doing so broadens the kind of entertainment you may enjoy.
Oh yes, I don't disagree! I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. But I agree with westrider that a total media boycott would hit small creators harder than large ones, which is the exact opposite of the intended effect.
