siliconshaman has been writing recently about how durable and slow-decaying SD cards are (particularly the highest-quality types), and has been proposing an archive unit to store them for the future. Other electronics might break or decay, but I figure as long as you have the necessary data protocols written down inside the box, someone who knows how electronics work will be able to build a reader.
