Watch "Matches"

This is the best stop-motion animation video I have seen since the candy video games

Things that impress me about "Matches" include:

* It does many different things with one core prop and a few supporting props.  This is a great exercise for any film class: have students draw an ordinary item from a box and do as much as they possibly can with it.  Divergent thinking is key to creativity.

* The illustrated actions show many principles of geometry and science.  It's not very common to see people mixing that with entertainment, but it works.

* Some sequences are exercises from magical duplication or telekinesis.  Tedious as fuck when done with magic, but highly amusing on film.

* Many of the actions are unexpected and funny.  I laughed a lot.  You can never have too many videos that make you laugh.

Birdfeeding

Today is sunny and mild.

I fed the birds. I've seen house finches and a squirrel.

I watered plants. Then I gathered partridge pea seeds from the wildflower garden and planted them in the prairie garden.

EDIT 9/15/21 -- I gathered seeds from the wildflower garden and planted them in the prairie garden.

EDIT 9/15/21 -- I finished trimming around the outside of the purple-and-white garden, though the inside still needs some work.

EDIT 9/15/21 -- I spotted a gray tree frog on the porch, low on the house wall. It's likely the same one from last night. That makes the count 6 green and 5 gray, 9 of them this year.
