Magpie Monday

[personal profile] dialecticdreamer is hosting Magpie Monday today with a theme of "asking for help and getting it." Leave prompts, get ficlets!

Which brings me to the bonus story: if I reach $150 in tips, I’ll post a 7500-8k word story in the Aether Roses universe. That effectively doubles the number of words offered, and gives everyone another story to read as a thank you from me.

Last week's Poetry Fishbowl went well.  I am still writing.  My parents bought their batch so I'll get those poems posted when I can.

Poetry in Microfunding:

There are two open epics at present.

"The Hobbomak" launches the Bear Tunnels series. Emma and Jesse discover an unusual chamber underground.

"A Celebration and a Consolation" belongs to Polychrome Heroics. Keira comforts her mother after the breakup.

The weather has been mostly mild and blustery.  We got some rain over the last couple of days.  I've been doing advance yardwork. I'm picking up sticks and pulling weeds. Seen at the birdfeeders this week: a large flock of sparrows, a large flock of mourning doves (including courtship behavior), a large flock of grackles, a few robins, several house finches who are draining the thistle sock, a pair of cardinals, a Bewick's wren, a brown thrasher, and a squirrel.  I saw the crows harassing the owl again.

Poem: Astronomy Haiku 4-9-21

This poetry is spillover from the April 6, 2021 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired and sponsored by Anthony Barrette. This section is the third installment of this year's Astronomy Haiku poetry collection. Start with "Exotic Planets" and "Creation."

Today is sunny, breezy, and warm.

I fed the birds.  I've seen a few house finches today.

I picked up sticks from the yard by the house and dumped a trolley of them in the firepit.

Violets are blooming everywhere, mostly purple or purple-and-white, but the yellow one in the forest garden is also blooming.  :D

EDIT 4/12/21 -- I went back out and took pictures in the yard.

My spruce trees are giving off clouds of pollen.  <3 tree pr0n.

EDIT 4/12/21 -- I picked up another trolley of sticks in the yard by the house.

Poem: "Shiver in Awareness"

This poem came out of the April 6, 2021 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from [personal profile] nsfwords. It also fills the "Sexuality" square in my 4-4-21 "Aspects" card for the Genderplay Bingo fest. This poem has been sponsored by Anthony & Shirley Barrette. It belongs to the Eloquent Souls series.
