Poem: "Only to Be Understood"

This poem was written outside the regular prompt calls. It fills the "Distance" square in my 2-5-19 card for the Fluff Bingo fest. It has been sponsored by Anthony & Shirley Barrette. This poem belongs to the China's Mistake and Kraken threads of the Polychrome Heroics series.

Warning: This poem contains intense and controversial topics. Highlight to read the warnings, some of which are spoilers. It includes the aftermath of mass deaths, a (willing) body-double, refusal to acknowledge sapient artificial intelligence as a form of life, mockery, speciesism, schism, bailing out of college shortly before graduation due to sudden and extreme ethical differences, and other challenges. If these are sensitive issues for you, please consider your tastes and headspace before reading onward.

Poetry in Microfunding:

There is one open epic at present.

"The Best Understanding of Their Differences" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Calliope. Calliope and Vagary start on couple exercises.

The weather has been colder, and we got some rain the other day. Seen at the birdfeeders this week: a flock of mourning doves, a flock of cardinals, a flock of sparrows, several dark-eyed juncos, a Bewick's wren, a downy woodpecker, and a squirrel.  I saw the owl flying around in the yard one morning, and I saw a hawk once when I went out to feed the birds.  :D

Magpie Monday

[personal profile] dialecticdreamer is hosting Magpie Monday with a theme of "unexpected moments." Leave prompts, get ficlets!

If I reach a total of $150 in tips, I’ll post a story tangentially related to the “China’s Mistake” series. It follows Leo after his discussion with Boss Finn in ’s poem, “Their Need for Our Disciplinary Assistance.” Leo is far more affected by their talk than Elisabeth realizes, and after he leaves the Finns’ house, Bennett helps put him back together. Lots of fluff and cuddles, intimacy without sex. I am hoping that readers will get to see it very soon!
