For my current set of tips, I'm using the list "101 Small Ways You Can Improve Your City.

32. Fix up your local park. Does barely functional equipment take the fun out of your local playground? Would new basketball courts or equipment make the park next door more enticing? To help guide those seeking to get their public parks in tip-top shape, the Center for Urban Pedagogy created a guide for building coalitions, activating the community, and petitioning local government for change. It’s New York-centric, but the lessons can be applied everywhere.

Just beware of boobytraps.  Many things that used to make parks fun and affordable are no longer legal, and making any change at all sometimes triggers an obligation to do other things that might be undesirable or unaffordable.  This is a key reason why parks often become rundown.

Today is hot and muggy.

I fed the birds.  I saw the male goldfinch again.

Activist John Lewis has passed away.  He was a key figure in the Civil Rights Movement.
