Sort of Back

We have some internet connectivity.  I can at least check email occasionally.  I can access the web somewhat.  We are currently testing how much will be feasible.  I will do my best to keep people posted on developments.

Community Building Tip: Porch

For my current set of tips, I'm using the list "101 Small Ways You Can Improve Your City.

18. Fix up your porch. "In a city like New York it's easy to burrow inside your house and ignore the outside. But I have a neighbor with a stoop who has plants on every step, and a neighbor with a tiny vestibule who has managed to fit in one pretty copper pot by her front door. Both of their houses look brighter and friendlier, like they bothered to accessorize." — Alexandra Lange, architecture critic, Curbed

Poetry Fishbowl Update

Due to technical difficulties caused by other people, this month's poetry activities will be reversed.

The half-price sale in Polychrome Heroics will run from Tuesday, April 7 to Friday, April 10.  I don't know how fast I'll be able to post things as we're still testing data usage.  However, a half-price sale should need a lot less than a fishbowl.  This will help us raise funds to keep the household going and cover the patchwork of expenses needed to restore internet.

The Poetry Fishbowl will move to Tuesday, April 21.  That is supposed to be past the point when we will have full service again, if the weather behaves and the new company proves competent.  (If it does, we're supposed to get higher speed, which would be a nice gain.)  The theme will be "Interspecies Cooperation."

Sorry for the hassle.

Today was chilly and gray.  I fed the birds.  There were several crows or ravens hanging around the edges of the yard, and a saw a brown thrasher in the birdgift tree.  :D

I did several rounds of yardwork.  These included clearing dead stems out of the septic garden, and spot-spraying weeds in various places.
