This poem was written outside the regular prompt calls. It fills the "Calling someone to chat" square in my 9-5-18 "Kind and Soft" card for the 1000 Words or Less Bingo fest. It has been sponsored by a pool with [personal profile] fuzzyred. This poem belongs to the Broken Angels thread of the Polychrome Heroics series, which follows "One of the Necessities of Life" and "Their Own Capacity." This sets up for "The Talk" by [personal profile] dialecticdreamer.

Warning: This poem contains frank sex talk.

While running errands today, a guy passed us on a very loud motorbike, all dressed in black leather -- passed us at a very high speed on a straight road.

Then came the curve.  He slowed waaayyy down ... and made the curve perfectly upright, without leaning into it at all.

He did the same thing to turn a corner.  I laughed until I ran out of air.  I mean, here he is, trying to be a total badass, and he can't corner properly.

We concluded that he's a baby biker.  (Technically, an older guy, with long graying hair.  But still.)  He probably just bought the damn thing.  I hope he doesn't kill himself with it.   Not to mention that plain leather, without skid plates, may look tough but isn't the most damage-resistant thing one can wear.

The half-price sale in Polychrome Heroics went well. I still have a bunch of stuff to post.

Poetry in Microfunding:

There are two open epics.

"A Different Vision of Life" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Marionettes and Mercedes. Griffin wants to learn Italian.

"Goldilocks and the Genderbears" stands alone and has 50 new verses. Goldilocks explores the cottage.

"Everyone Can Dance" is now complete. People relax after the dancing.

"What Survives the Whole Process" is now complete. Other designers reveal their one-month challenge results.

The weather has been mild here. It's raining today. \o/ Seen at the birdfeeders this week: a small flock of mourning doves, several house finches, several sparrows, several cardinals, a downy woodpecker, a blue jay, and a squirrel. Currently blooming: violas, petunias, pinks, marigolds, lantana, torenia, million bells, moss rose, firecracker plant, clover, morning glories, Queen Anne's lace, thistle, little bluestem grass, purple sedum, pink sedum. Apples are ripening. Pears are ripe About half of the fields have been harvested.

I had reason to look up some curried squash recipes. Note that these are very versatile -- the creamy element can be created with butter, cream, coconut cream, etc. Protein can be chicken, chickpeas, paneer, etc. Some make a masala from scratch, others use a real Indian blend like garam masala or Madras curry powder. (I skipped the ones with American-style "curry powder" but they also exist.) So feel free to mix and match as needed.

Winter squash is in season now, cheap and plentiful. It's high in fiber and usually Vitamin A too. Consume mass quantities. :D

SOUPS

This soup uses both acorn squash and butternut.

CURRIED SQUASH

Here is a butternut squash curry that can include chicken chunks, chickpeas, or paneer so it is very flexible. Sounds like feast food.

This poem is spillover from the July 2, 2019 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a discussion with [personal profile] siliconshaman. It also fills the "Laughter" square in my 2-1-19 Platonic card for the Valentines Bingo fest. This poem has been sponsored by a pool with [personal profile] fuzzyred. It belongs to the Fortressa thread of the Polychrome Heroics series. It is the third in a tetrad after "Until Someone Lives in Them" and "What Survives the Whole Process," before "Thrust to the Level."
