Dumbo Crows

Here's a thoughtful article about the crows in the original Dumbo, one of my favorite scenes (along with the pink elephants).

I think it's sad that so much entertainment has been sanitized today.  While I don't approve of deliberately hurtful "entertainment" I think there needs to be room for the wacky, the outrageous, and the stuff that pokes fun at society's bullshit.

Fortunately, technological evolution is making it easier for people to make their own films.  I'm really looking forward to watching Hollywood collectively wet itself when they realize how much of a threat to their complacency that really is.

Poetry in Microfunding:

There are two open epics.

"Learning the Vocation" belongs to Path of the Paladins. Shahana and company play games in the common room.

"A Cave Swarming with Strange Forms of Life" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Iron Horses. Kenzie tells Pretty Ears what is bothering him.

Weather here has been cooler with frequent rain. Seen at the birdfeeders this week: a small flock of sparrows, a small flock of mourning doves, two pairs of house finches, a pair of cardinals, a pair of brown-headed cowbirds, a pair of Bewick's wrens, a brown thrasher, a robin, and a bluejay.  Currently blooming: violas, hyacinths, purple grape hyacinths, violets, tulips, redbud tree, apple tree, crabapple trees, lilacs, new yellow violet.  Daffodils are almost done.

Poetry Fishbowl Report for April 2, 2019

Our theme this month was "Alternative Methods of Teaching." I wrote from 12 PM to 6 AM, so about 16 hours allowing for lunch and supper breaks. I wrote 7 poems on Tuesday and another 19 later in the week.

Participation was much higher, with 28 comments on LiveJournal and another 111 on Dreamwidth. There were 2 new prompters, [personal profile] inky_magpie and Anonymous, so "Unworthy" is the second freebie.

Arts and Crafts America is now a series with the addition of two new poems to the first introduced last month.

Poem: "Unworthy"

This is the second freebie for the April 2, 2019 Poetry Fishbowl. You have new prompters [personal profile] inky_magpie and Anonymous to thank. It was inspired by a prompt from [personal profile] torc87. It also fills the "disapproval" square in my 4-1-19 card for the School Days Bingo fest. This poem belongs to the series Love Is For Children.

Warning: This poem contains reflections on past abuse and present hopelessness.
