Nontraditional Dates

One of my writer friends asked for ideas about dates for her characters. There are now lists of nontraditional date ideas, some of which are really good.

Then I started listing some examples of things I've used with Stan and Lawrence, and I realized that they've actually gone through a fantastic process of getting to know each other, including but not limited to:

Pride club and a movie

Tutoring each other

Mostly they walk in the park

Chess club

Community Supported Agriculture

Family gathering

Science crafts

Emotional intimacy questions aka demisexual pr0n

Town meeting

Visiting a museum

You can see them going back and forth, introducing each other to personal favorites, and finding things they enjoy doing together. It also shows how T-American folks tend to have a diverse selection of hobbies and other interests. \o/

This week's half-price sale in Polychrome Heroics went quite well. :D

No activity on the [community profile] crowdfunding Creative Jam, though.

Poetry in Microfunding:

There are three open epics. We're full until at least one of these concludes.

"Energy, Made Visible" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Shiv and has 3 new verses. Shiv really wants to keep going with the therapy questions.

"Only If It Is Embraced" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Damask. Pain's Gray deals with Ham picking on Keane.

"In the Depths of Your Grief" is now complete.  Ansel, Turq, and Kedric take care of themselves and each other in the aftermath of the raid.

"A Cave Swarming with Strange Forms of Life" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Iron Horses.  Kenzie goes to Pretty Ears for counseling.

The weather has been much chilly here. A couple days ago was a fierce windstorm.  We need to do stick pickup in the yard. Seen at the birdfeeders this week: sparrows, house finches, a male and a female cardinal separately.   In bloom: marigolds, gazania, salvia, cleome, petunia, million bells, lantana, dianthus, and sedum. There's also some pink thing in the prairie garden. The crabapples and pears are ripe. Leaves are starting to fall off without turning colors. The fields around our house have been harvested.

Recipe: "Buddha's Hand Satori Shortbread Cookies"

Last year, I tinkered around with a recipe for shortbread cookies using Buddha's hand. I've got it to where I like it now, so here it is.

Also, I tried out our new Cutco cheese knife for cutting butter. I buy this Irish butter in bricks and it's a pain in the ass to cut, always wants to stick on the knife and break. Not anymore! It's easier to cut through, and the butter comes right off the hollow blade in one piece. \o/ Just be careful, because that knife is seriously sharp. It cut through the paper under the butter, just touching it. Cutco is not cheap, but it is absolutely worth every penny. A spoon I don't spend swearing at the butter is a spoon I have to do something else with. :D
