There will be a Poetry Fishbowl on Tuesday, May 15 with a theme of "anything goes." Think about all the stuff you have wanted to prompt that didn't fit a theme -- now's the time for that. Any poetic form, technique, or topic is fair game too. I hope to see you then!

Poetry in Microfunding:

"Marks of Devotion" belongs to Kande's Quest. Kande ventures into the underworld in search of her brother.

"Energy, Made Visible" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Shiv and has 9 new verses. Dr. G and Shiv discuss what could be done with different sets of creme pastels.

"Only If It Is Embraced" belongs to Polychrome Heroics: Damask and has 13 new verses.  Ham grumbles over the arrangements.

The weather has been warmer here, intermittently sunny and gray, but only a little rain once. Seen at the birdfeeders this week: a flock of sparrows, a flock of mourning doves, several cardinals, some brown-headed cowbirds, a house finch, a brown thrasher, and a bluejay.  I have seen an indigo bunting and a goldfinch in the grass too.  On the way to visit my parents, we saw a bald eagle!  More butterflies are out.  Daffodils, crabapples, and cherries are done.  Some other apple trees have flowers on them.  In bloom: violets, gold currant, late black tulips, lilacs, honeysuckles, jack-in-the-pulpit, pink chives, columbine, white alliums, purple alliums, white spirea, marigolds, gazania, blue lobelia, white alyssum, zinnias, and sundry others.  Budding: raspberries, iris, peonies.  I have finished planting everything from the Michigan Bulb Company box.  I finished the small flat of wildflowers from the Native Plant Sale and started on the herbs.  I still have a whole flat of prairie wildflowers and grasses to put out.  And it's 90 again today.  :P

Monday Yardening

Today is sunny, hot, and breezy.  I potted up the golden marjoram and the stevia to put on the picnic table.  I planted a dwarf curry and borage in the cistern garden.

EDIT 5/14/18: I planted morning glory and moonflower seeds in the barrel garden, and more morning glories around the support wire for the telephone pole.

EDIT 5/14/18: I put out bergamot and pineapple mint in the strip garden along the patio, butterfly weed by the barrel garden, and mountain mint in the wildflower garden.  I'm finished with the flat of herbs.  \o/

Also, goldfinches have found the thistle sock.  I just hung it yesterday.  A male and a female are eating from it now.  :D

EDIT 5/14/18: I planted wild bergamot and wild quinine in the wildflower garden.

Magpie Monday

[personal profile] dialecticdreamer is hosting Magpie Monday today with a theme of "fairy tales." Leave prompts, get ficlets! If you boost the signal, you get more words. There's a $50 target for donations; meeting that will earn a bonus story, posted all at once: “Ending the Stalemate,” in which Halley and Shiv finally begin to patch the damage done to their relationship.
