Life is full of things which are hard or tedious or otherwise unpleasant that need doing anyhow. They help make the world go 'round, they improve skills, and they boost your sense of self-respect. But doing them still kinda sucks. It's all the more difficult to do those things when nobody appreciates it. Happily, blogging allows us to share our accomplishments and pat each other on the back.
What are some of the hard things you've done recently? What are some hard things you haven't gotten to yet, but need to do?
Trader Joe's The Milk Chocolate Lover's Chocolate Bar is a bit of a misnomer. It's a dark milk chocolate, with sour notes and a little bitterness. At 45% cacao it's really midrange between milk and dark. It does have a fairly smooth texture, though. This is single origin from the Tumaco region of Colombia, a nice choice if you're touring the world of chocolate. The total weight is 3.5 oz but it's divided into two large, flat bars of 1.75 oz each. That makes it very convenient for sharing. While not a favorite, I wouldn't mind having this again.
This morning I saw an indigo bunting in the yard. Perhaps I'll get a thistle sock for them.
Just now I saw a bluejay in the forest garden. He'd grab a seed from the ground under the hopper feeder, then fly up to a branch to eat it. :D
Today is partly sunny, warm, and breezy. We picked up several piles of grass and weed stems.
EDIT 5/9/18: I trimmed most of the grass and weeds around the cistern garden. I still have a bit of the edge to finish, a lot more to do inside it.
EDIT 5/9/18: I finished trimming around the septic garden. Next I will need to weed it.
EDIT 5/9/18: I cut the burdock out of the septic garden and removed some other weeds. There's more left to do, but at least now I can see the garden. Quite a lot has returned from last year! There are pink chives, wild chives, rhubarb, at least one of the carnations, sedum, sweet mint, chocolate mint, and lamb's ear. :D
