Wheelchair Adventures

Things that happen to people in wheelchairs

Why does anyone say not to get angry about this shit?  If someone grabs your body you are entitled to get angry.  Your adaptive equipment counts as part of your body for this purpose, especially if people are also grabbing your meat.  Maybe if more disabled people would rip the heads off people who grope them, it would happen less.  Try a very loud "DON'T TOUCH ME THERE!"

Also, if nonverbal, an air horn should make gropers jump away from you.

Poem: "Climbing Through the Cracks"

This poem came out of the April 4, 2017 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by prompts from [personal profile] shiori_makiba, [personal profile] technoshaman, and [personal profile] heartsinger. It also fills the "sea serpent" square in my 4-1-17 card for the Month of Rainbows Bingo fest. This poem has been sponsored by [personal profile] daisiesrockalot. It belongs to the series Polychrome Heroics.

Warning: This poem contains some touchy topics. Highlight to read the warnings, some of which are spoilers. It features child abuse, living in the cracks, poverty, scavenging for survival needs, drunken violence, talking about abuse, which just makes it worse, bad advice, flickering, trusting strangers, who are (not known to be) supervillains, running away from home, the kindness of strangers, trying to rescue an abused parent, and possibly setting up the abuser to get the shit kicked out of him by a supervillain, unfamiliar but tasty and uplifting food, traveling to an unknown destination, fear, uncertainty, adult survivor of past abuse, feeling unsafe, and other challenges. If these are sensitive issues for you, please consider your tastes and headspace before reading onward.

Birdfeeding

Seen at the feeders today: a big flock of sparrows, a couple of cardinals, several mourning doves, and a hawk.  When the songbirds flushed away from the feeders, the hawk dropped down out of a nearby walnut tree and swooped around the edge of the yard.  :D

Holiday Poetry Sale Update

Today is the last day of the Holiday Poetry Sale.  If you are still shopping, please take a look at which poems have sold and which are still available before making your selections.  Also [personal profile] ng_moonmoth has a pool going for several poems, so if you only have a little money to spend, that's a good way to maximize the bang for your buck.

I have several poems left to post from the batch for [personal profile] daisiesrockalot, plus my parents.  Those will take a while because they're mega-epics.

All the Berettaflies poems are up, along with four stories by [personal profile] siliconshaman.  These set up for things that [personal profile] siliconshaman and [personal profile] dialecticdreamer are writing further down the timeline.  Watch for more from [personal profile] siliconshaman after Christmas.
