Poem: "Return to Center"

This poem fills a square on my second card for the [community profile] cottoncandy_bingo fest. This fest encourages people to create and share material focused on what is variously called fluff, schmoop, gentle fiction, light reading, comfort reading, positive thinking, chicken soup for the soul, or anything else that offers a fun alternative to usual run of sex, violence, and angst of modern media. I'm hoping to attract some new readers for my writing.

The following poem belongs to Schrodinger's Heroes, featuring an apocryphal television show supported by an imaginary fandom. It's science fiction about quantum physics and saving the world from alternate dimensions. It features a very mixed cast in terms of ethnicity and sexual orientation. This project developed with input from multiple people, and it's open for everyone to play in. You can read more about the background, the characters, and a bunch of assorted content on the menu page.

Fandom: Original (Schrodinger's Heroes)
Prompt: Return
Medium: Poetry
Summary: Alex uses quantum physics and advanced math to retrieve her scattered team.
Content Notes: Culpable bystanders. Alex is a genius. Science saves the day.

Fiction by Rix_scaedu

rix_scaedu has written these stories from my prompts:

"Gambit Number Three" belongs to the Elf series and features emergency response with magic.  I really like the savvy characters in this story.

"Some Days Are Worse Than Others" belongs to the Angels setting and deals with a forgotten holiday.  Bittersweet.

"Christmas Is About Family" also belongs to the Elf series and follows "Gambit Number Three" above.  It shows how hell is other people.

Update from Kajones_writing

This is a quickie update for time-sensitive material.

[personal profile] kajones_writing has posted the December call for prompts with a theme of "a minute, a year, a lifetime" on Dreamwidth and on LiveJournal. Random number prompts are still welcome if you can't think of something specific. Please drop by and give some inspiration!  The session is supposed to close after midnight on Monday.

Also, I wrote a piece of fanfic about the Lakota vampire John Good Road. "Twilight Memories" deals with his thoughts on the anniversary of the Massacre at Wounded Knee. Warnings for noxious history, John's maker Pádriac (because Pádriac is always a warning), alienation, and self-destructive ideation; but it has a sweeter ending.  This story fills the "twilight" square in my card for the [community profile] darkfantasybingo fest.  Feedback is welcome but not required.

Single-line Bingo: 4 Poems, 1 Story

This is my second bingo on my second card for the [community profile] cottoncandy_bingo  fest.  This fest encourages people to create and share material focused on what is variously called fluff, schmoop, gentle fiction, light reading, comfort reading, positive thinking, chicken soup for the soul, or anything else that offers a fun alternative to usual run of sex, violence, and angst of modern media. It's open to all fandoms plus original content, and all kinds of material. Read the FAQ and rules here.

I've filled a majority of the squares.  I'm not going to get them all before the deadline because that's tomorrow, but I will try to finish the card during the amnesty period and post more stuff.  If you missed this round and want to play, watch for the public cards to be posted during amnesty; anyone can use the prompts on those cards.

Of the original three fests -- [community profile] cottoncandy_bingo[community profile] hc_bingo, and [community profile] kink_bingo -- this one has proven the most popular and successful.  I plan to participate again when the next round opens in summer.
