Voting Your Conscience

I've seen a lot of vote-shaming lately, and it's getting on my last nerve.  So ...

If you are an American citizen, please use your vote deliberately.  It is YOUR vote.  Nobody else has any right to pressure or hassle you about it.  You don't have to tell anyone how you vote.  It's not a great idea to bug other people about how they are voting either.  Mostly it just annoys people.  This is a very personal decision.  If you want to vote for main party candidates, that's fine.  If you want to vote third party or write-in because you think the main ones suck, that's fine.  If you don't vote because you believe the process is corrupt, or makes you morally responsible for endorsing a crummy candidate, or whatever else; that's also fine.  It is YOUR vote.  I may or may not agree with what you do with it, but I won't TELL you what to do with it, because that's not how democracy is supposed to work.

Here is a guide to the presidential candidates for various parties.  The menu also has guides to other positions up for vote.  For local positions you'll need to search your county or city name to find resources.  Inform yourself as best you can, because it is difficult or impossible to make good decisions based on bad information.  Think about what is important to you and what kind of world you want to live in.  Then make your choice.
