Here's a beautiful analysis of Loki's plans in The Avengers.  It's pretty much all spoilers, but brilliantly rendered.

And yes, that really is how Loki thinks after people have fucked him over for centuries.  They are stronger; he is smarter and meaner.  You can't actually beat someone who is capable of making all possible outcomes benefit himself.

 Update of "The Mirror Crack'd."  Detail is developing nicely.  I love the skeleton in a top hat.
