Bonus Fishbowl Poll for February 2012

The February 7, 2012 fishbowl met the $200 goal for a bonus session.  The mid-month fishbowl will be Tuesday, February 21.  You get to vote on which series will be featured in that session.  I will leave this poll open at least through Monday evening.  If there's a clear winner then, I'll close it; otherwise I may leave it open a little longer.

Poetry Fishbowl Report for Tuesday, February 7, 2012

The February theme was "wild animals."  Many prompts arrived early, with a few more trickling in later in the day.  It was a lively month for prompts, with 22 people posting them.  There were 59 comments.  I worked from 12:15 PM to 12:30 AM, so about 10 hours 15 minutes, allowing for lunch and supper breaks.

I wrote 17 poems, plus one more several days later.  Most of the poems were medium-long or long, with a few medium-short, and one each of short and epic.  They were all free-verse, except for the extra.  While some evolved from a single prompt, several stacked a lot of prompts together.

There were two new prompters: alicephilippa and Angel (by way of wyld_dandelyon).  You have them to thank for the second freebie poem.  Special thanks to my_partner_doug for managing the donation ticker.  Special thanks to minor_architect for managing the linkback poem "Grit and Grace."  You can also see the donor poll and the general poll following that poem to suggest what will happen next.

Donations were exceptionally generous this month -- the fishbowl sold out for the second time.  Woohoo!  We met the $150 goal and the $250 goal for free serial poems, so you got to pick two of those, "We've Got It Covered" and "A Small Separation."  We met the $200 goal for a bonus fishbowl, which will happen on Tuesday, February 21.  Voting is still open for which series to feature.

Not a poem, but arriving as a timely match, is the gorgeous ecological science fiction story "River Watching" by lilfluff, written from my prompt.

Currently sponsored poems have all been posted.  The generally sponsored poetry poll finished off the microfunded poem "The Godfather" (Fiorenza the Wisewoman) and added new verses to "The Morose Mascot" (The Adventures of Aldornia and Zenobia).

The January donors include: the_vulture, zianuray, minor_architect, rix_scaedu, Stephen Laird, marina_bonomi, janetmiles, tuftears, westrider, laffingkat, Shirley Barrette, and Anthony Barrette.  Thank you all for your wonderful support!  I still need to write the donor perk-post.

For complete details on this project, see the Poetry Fishbowl Landing Page.

Read "River Watching" by Lilfluff

lilfluff has written "River Watching" which is possibly the most uplifting postapocalyptic story I've ever read.  Also, yay for "the other sciences" fiction!  This one highlights riparian biology.  It makes a very timely accompaniment to my "wild animals" Poetry Fishbowl this month.

Throwing Darts at Poetry

With 8 votes, the poll for a series to be featured in the mid-month fishbowl is ... tied four ways.  *chuckle*  I could just about tape this to the wall and throw darts to pick one, couldn't I?  This after a couple other polls this week were neck-and-neck races between closely matches pairs or trios of contenders.
