The November 1, 2011 Poetry Fishbowl met the $150 goal for an extra serial poem.
my_partner_doug and I discussed the growing backlog of serial poetry, and decided that it would be helpful to address that in the perks. So on occasions when there are many poems available already, I may offer you a chance to publish one of those, instead of making the backlog bigger by writing more. Today you get a choice of six poems spanning four series. Most of these would fill in a gap, either making later poems available or just filling in useful character development.
"With Mortal Flesh and Iron Will" (61 lines, $30.50) is the next installment in the military science fiction series The Clockwork War. It features paralyzed soldiers and their desire to continue hunting bots.
"A Small Separation" (203 lines, $101.50) belongs to Fiorenza the Wisewoman. When something goes wrong with the Palazzo Ducale, the Duke sends for Fiorenza to help. Explore Italy, save the day!
"Beggars Night" (103 lines, $51.50) is a Halloween poem for Monster House, offered for recent seasonal relevance. Also, it has an illustration by
meeksp. What do monsters dress up as...?
"Not Mine" (71 lines, $35.50) is a considerably darker Monster House poem about how the bogeyman deals with wicked people. There's a later poem that depends on this one.
"Opening the Gate" (304 lines, $152) belongs to Path of the Paladins. It gives a closer look at some of the damage being done to this world, the kind of work that paladins do, and a major point of character growth for Ari.
"Gallery of Souls" (52 lines, $20) also comes from Path of the Paladins. Shahana and Ari visit a town for supplies and discuss how the gods perceive humanity. It's a necessary precursor for a later poem and helpful for others.
Everyone is eligible to vote in this poll. I'll check it Sunday evening to see if there's a clear winner. If so, I'll post it then; otherwise I may leave the poll open longer.
