Meme: 20 Ships

I love the 20 Ships meme, which describes slash pairings in archetypal terms rather than character names.  Oh, the inspiration!

From Schrodinger's Heroes ...

The hero and his mirror-twin.
The thing from another dimension and the brainy blond.
The strappy ex-soldier and the girl everybody wants to spank.
The coffee guy and his wives and husbands and the guy who will try anything.
The lesbian mercenary and the soldier who wishes she never HEARD of these people.
The bloke with two lives and the dude who fixes shit.
The computer wizard and the surfer girl.
The vanilla fella and the highly educational medic.

Lord Ottoman Lichter is in a committed romantic, asexual relationship with himself from an alternate universe. When they first met, his 'ganger was dressed as a woman. They take turns being the woman; Lord Lichter was always a dandy. Oh yes, and they made a robotic son who looks rather steampunk-inspired.

I'm not sure if the Lord Lichter stories count as steampunk or not, being as Lord Lichter's home time is the 1920's in Britain.
Lord Ottoman Lichter's 'ganger lover calls herself Lady Octavia Lichter.

Anything goes. "Slash" can just mean "non-canon combinations." It comes in all flavors, and can be specified gayslash, hetslash, femslash, etc.

*chuckle* One of the favorites in Schrodinger's Heroes is Quinn/ATM ... short for Anything That Moves.

The usage has evolved over time, and varies across different fandoms. I'm increasingly seeing "slash" as a generic rather than male/male specific.
