Poetry Fishbowl on Tuesday, November 3

This is an advance announcement for the November 2009 Poetry Fishbowl. This time the theme will be "languages and ways of writing." I'll be soliciting ideas for language speakers, writers, writing systems (alphabet, syllabary, etc.), unusual writing tools (quills, clay, etc.), favorite languages, luscious words, language-related plot twists, history & innovations in writing, settings associated with languages or writing, and poetic forms linked to a culture in particular.

If you're interested, mark the date on your calendar, and please hold actual prompts until the "Poetry Fishbowl Open" post next week. Meanwhile, if you want to help with promotion, please feel free to link back here or repost this on your blog.

Been There, Done That

Every once in a while, my farmemory kicks in when I least expect it. I was surfing the web today and stumbled across this article about global warming being a hoax.

I ... think I remember that speaker from the end of the last ice age. He's saying a lot of the same things now. Actually, so am I, and I'm not having much better luck convincing people to plan ahead this round either. *headdesk*

And I really miss mammoth steak, too.

Propaganda ... now in new Klingon flavor!

My partner Doug found me this awesome piece of Klingon propaganda, done in animation with all the narration in Klingon. I only recognized a few words, but hey, it's still fun to watch.

Some Klingon ad producer is going to be really hacked that a bunch of humans filched his awesome ad for idle entertainment, and they're in another universe where he can't kill and eat them in revenge. Heh.
