Dungeon's Master

I was delighted to discover the Dungeon's Master blog today. It features posts about many different aspects of roleplaying games. Some of the stuff is tightly nailed to one system, usually D&D4. But much of it generalizes beyond that, and some pieces have a level of depth and insight that I haven't seen in ... hm, about 20 years, back when Dragon was more text than pictures and more steak than sizzle. I was particularly taken with the posts on character appearance and playing characters with low ability scores (two of my fortes, both as player and GM). It's really nice to see someone putting real thought into gaming, how it works, why it's fun, how to make it better. Also, this is a CommentLuv blog, so if you leave comments, you get a link back to your blog.

If you enjoy gaming, drop by Dungeon's Master and say something nice.

Net Neutrality Proposal

I'm pleased to see this proposal moving forward. It would protect the quality of Internet service from providers who wish to degrade it in ways that would make them more money by making it work less well for their customers.

FCC To Propose Net Neutrality Rules
The FCC plans to propose new rules that would prohibit Internet service providers from interfering with the free flow of information and certain applications over their networks. 'Net neutrality' would bar Internet service providers such as Verizon, Comcast or AT&T, from slowing or blocking certain services or content.

Perceptions of Presidential Hate-ons

I got to thinking about how I'm seeing more news about hatred directed at the President. haikujaguar pointed out that plenty of people directed hatred at former President Bush too. (I don't particularly approve of that either. I loathed almost everything he did, and would gladly have seen him impeached, but ad hominem attacks can lead to violence and I don't think assassination would've been good.) This made me wonder if people's affiliations are affecting perceptions in this regard.

So here is a poll. The question is always the same, but it's being asked of people who fall into different groups, so only answer the parts that apply to you. It is entirely up to you how you choose to identify yourself in terms of political stance and ethnicity. The question concerns your perception of the country's attitude as a whole, not just your personal circle of friends.
