Dam Fools

According to this article, Brazilian companies want to build a hydroelectric dam on the Xingu river. A coalition of indigenous people has gathered to oppose the construction, since it would flood their homes. It would also create severe environmental problems, including a rise in greenhouse gas -- and oh yes, it's a lousy site for a dam, because the river doesn't have a sufficiently consistent flow to run the dam all year round.
