Schrodinger's Heroes: Good and Evil
Schrodinger's Heroes  is an apocryphal television show about quantum physics and keeping the Earth safe from alternate dimensions.  If you're not familiar with it, you can browse the menu page.  The following images may make more sense if you have read the descriptions for Melannen's characters and my characters.  LOL_Heroes is a branch of LOL picspam inspired by Schrodinger's Heroes.

Previous batches have introduced the black cat Schrodinger from the core team, who is good; and his white alter, evil!Schrodinger.  This batch of images features good!Schrodinger and evil!Schrodinger interacting; see my LJ scrapbook G!S-E!S for full-size images. (They are sometimes abbreviated as E!S and G!S in LOL_Heroes, to save space.)  Naturally, they start out as mortal enemies.  But this is fandom, so then things get interesting...

Evil!Schrodinger discovers that when you're all the time cooking up nefarious plans, people tend to start blaming you whenever things go wrong -- whether it's your fault or not.  I'm not taking sides in this particular argument.

This picture goes with the Wonderland crossovers, "Alex in Wonderland" and "Looking Through the Glass."

Ah, those awkward moments after a major emotional or physical disaster.  The spoken lines are not attributed, because both of them apply equally well to both characters, and that's part of the point.  It's an early example of them actually agreeing on something.

Fandom, of course, never can leave well enough alone.  The first instance of good!Schrodinger and evil!Schrodinger NOT being mortal enemies appeared in one of those "it was all a dream" fanfics full of surreal images and unbelievable events.  But it planted a seed.  Quinn, of course, is a wild member of the team who will try darn near anything and is often portrayed getting drunk or stoned.  Note that this picture is slightly out of focus.

Sometimes the interaction between good!Schrodinger and evil!Schrodinger is ambiguous, and can be read as positive or negative or a mixture of both.  Here, they're drunk and using LOLspeak.

Enter the catnip.  As introduced in the fanfic "Schrodinger's Catnip," this is SH slang for any substance or influence that makes characters randy or affectionate to the point of ignoring their usual inhibitions.  Early G!S/E!S used this to justify the combination.

And then the heart of G!S/E!S emerged, quickly gaining an avid following among the fans of Schrodinger's Heroes.  The slash here can refer to any flavor(s) of asexual, romantic, or sexual pairing.  After all the fighting, people were charmed by stories in which good!Schrodinger and evil!Schrodinger made up and made friends, or became partners ... or even lived in a dimension where they had never been enemies at all.

Finally, sphynx cats are sometimes used to indicate a dimension where really weird things are going on.

This reminds me, a character of mine named Lord Ottoman Lichter, a time traveling inventor, is in an asexual romantic relationship with an alternate-timeline version of himself.

Exactly! That's just the sort of thing that happens in some of these stories, up to and including the time travel and inventions.

Thank you!

>>Another batch of brilliance! I really wish I could watch this show.<<

I keep hoping that if I talk about the kind of television I would like to see, maybe some of it will manifest eventually. Ideally, other folks will get involved in supporting projects like this, and it will spread.

>>"Too much", "Weather", "Oops", and "For Everything" particularly got me this time around.<<

Yay! It helps to know people's favorites.

Since you asked me to write down what I said the other evening, "Oh! Schroedinger's LOLCats -- they are simultaneously funny and not-funny until you see them and the waveform collapses."

I loved these. This apocryphal fandom seems a little overwhelming to get into but this might be a good place to start. :) Thanks!

The menu post provides a basic introduction, and links to the essays that describe both the literal and the figurative evolution of the fandom.

However, as you've discovered, these LOL_HEROES posts usually make sense even if you aren't familiar with the whole fandom, and also make a fun starting point. You can learn a lot about the characters very quickly.
