I wrote this as part of the Crowdfunding Creative Jam, posted here as the freebie for this session. It was inspired by prompts from The flotsam and jetsam The only thing you can dosiege,
swirvel42,
ankewehner, and
ellenmillion. The Schrodinger's Heroes project has a menu post.
-- a Schrodinger's Heroes poem
Once it has been opened,
the manifold cannot be closed
like a cheap car
whose "door ajar" light
remains stubbornly on
no matter how many times
you slam the door.
of the dimensions drift through --
fallen angels and changelings,
vermin from stranger worlds,
the politician fleeing the system,
the lesbian survivor,
the tentacle monster
who just wants to be friends.
is stand watch over the door,
improbable heroes steadfastly ready
to deal with whatever comes through.
Poem: "Door Ajar"

I took some pictures of my yard today. Read about what makes a good wildlife yard and Fieldhaven as habitat. The larger brush pile is still…

Birdfeeding
Today is partly sunny and delightfully mild. I fed the birds. I've seen a small flock of house finches and a few sparrows. I walked around the yard…

who just wants to be friends.<<
Why do I have the feeling we may have read the same comic involving a sci-fi horror vixen who is dismayed that the hideous space creature confronting her, instead of molesting her with its many tentacles, would actually just rather cuddle? :P
(And why does this seem like an awesome RPG campaign setting waiting to happen?)

*laugh* I'm not sure if we have, but it's funny regardless. Tim the Tentacle Monster began with a reference from Melannen and, in my version of Schrodinger's Heroes, practices some form of sexuality that he's never managed to explain to the humans. The cuddling is canon though.
>>(And why does this seem like an awesome RPG campaign setting waiting to happen?)<<
I think it would be. Since the characters were originally written without reference to gender (except for Tim), when I elaborated them I used a random number generator to dice up their gender and ethnicity; and I made sure that the group included the basic adventuring skills of brains, muscle, practicality, life support, social savvy, etc.

You hadn't noticed my attention to grab anything that wriggles on a prompt day?
>> I am being cautious with money after losing my last day job, but I don't want to contribute nothing at all unless you're definitely okay with that.<<
Prompting is free, including inadvertent "you said something I liked and I wrote a poem about it" prompting. There's never any obligation to buy.
>> Is there a way I could pay you in installments, or trade you drawings?<<
Installments would be fine if you decide to sponsor, as long as you specify that in the note when sending payment, so I know what it's for and the arrangements.

I'm often frustrated by shows where the heroes are a bunch of irresponsible loons that nobody would trust to run a car wash, let alone save the world. So I put in a quantum physicist, a computer programmer, an astronomer, a soldier, a bohemian, a good ol' boy, etc. No matter what happens, at least one person usually has some idea what to go do about it.
