Hiding in Fear

Even with the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" this is what it means to be queer in America.  The economics of fear is mighty and oppressive.  If you're so very lucky to have a job at all, you might have to hide your orientation for fear of being fired.  No right to a job.  No right to make a living, to pay bills, to not starve.  That means no real right to be yourself.

And still there are queer people who fought for the right to fight for their country in the armed forces.

Somehow, I'm not entirely convinced the country deserves them.

I'm sorry; I need to chill out about this stuff. There's just very little I can contribute right now which isn't bitter as all hell. I know that feeling dismissed and unwanted here is a pretty common sentiment these days regardless of ethnicity or orientation, and it's hard to remember not to burn out.
I understand. Spoons aren't the only thing that people run out of. When all the fucks have been given already, you just have to wait for them to regenerate before you can hand out any more. Find something relaxing to do for a while. You can always come back later.
