Poem: "Soulspace"

This poem came from the June 7, 2011 Poetry Fishbowl.  It was inspired by a discussion between aldersprig and my_partner_doug.  It was sponsored by janetmiles.

In cyberspace,
you are not your body
and no one can see your body
unless you make a point to show it.

It is the soul
that we meet first,
thought and word and will,
not size and shape and color and sex.

You are
what you say,
what you think and do,
what you project onto the screen.

you leave unsaid
is unknown, immaterial
unless someone reads between the lines.

Even the point
of orientation and
attraction remains hidden
until you choose to reveal the arrows.

In here
you can get to
know someone mind to mind,
soul to soul, not mediated by flesh.

You may not
know what's true
but you will truly know
what you think about what is said.
