Cold Fusion

This page describes a cold fusion process involving nickel and hydrogen, releasing a lot of heat energy.  The waste product is ... copper, a useful raw material.  The results seem to be replicable.  It would be really cool for this to pan out.  I'll keep an eye on this.

As you can see in my reply to raindrops, I'm just a little skeptical. I'll believe it when one of these things has been built into a full-scale power plant that has been running a city for a full year.

And it needs to be Las Vegas.
The inventor seems as sketchy as the claims. Scroll down toward the bottom of the page to read about him being some sort of eco-martyr after being jailed in the 90s for tax fraud - the claim is that he was being suppressed for inventing a garbage-to-fuel process.
