Cold Fusion

This page describes a cold fusion process involving nickel and hydrogen, releasing a lot of heat energy.  The waste product is ... copper, a useful raw material.  The results seem to be replicable.  It would be really cool for this to pan out.  I'll keep an eye on this.

Dunno. Everything about it trips all my scam sensors. They seem awfully shy about letting any independent source, particularly any well-known one, replicate and verify the process - or any of their claims.

All the 'news' about it is only showing up on rather dubious websites, to say the least. The few times it's mentioned by more robust sources, they're just as skeptical.

If the thing worked, would it not make commercial sense to have it given the seal of approval by the world's top physics labs and researchers? All it would have to do is work as described...
I notice a few patent and patent application numbers are mentioned on the linked page. It wouldn't be too hard to look those up and see if any replicable data can be determined there.
