Luna Moth

This evening, I saw ...



... this awesome luna moth clinging to a bush in our yard. I am immensely flattered: these are rare, lovely creatures and fussy about where they live. Also rather fey. This is only the second live one I've seen; the other was years ago, on a trip far to the south of here. It's like going outside to find the moon come down to Earth, with wings of smooth green cheese.

It was. The weird part was that it happened off and on for about 2 weeks straight. And one night, it was accompanied by the sound of bagpipes playing from the other side of the woods. I knew intellectually that there was a music conservatory in that direction, but still.....

2 weeks later when we found ourselves NEEDING a bagpiper because we were running Brigadoon, I knew exactly where to go to find one for us.

There are no true coincidences in this world.
