Poem: "Chasing the Rain"

This poem was inspired and sponsored by ladyqkat.  Reality is a semipermeable space...

Chasing the Rain

Between water and light
lies the boundary
of is  and is not
as the world's edge
thins to the line where
two facets of prism meet.

What really lies at
the end of the rainbow
is not a pot of gold
but something more precious:
a chance to change
what is manifest
to imaginary,
what is not yet so
to something you can hold.

It's worth chasing the rain
for an opportunity
to catch the rainbow.

This is to remind me to look up my quote file for the one about reality and magic.

Also to quote Stephen J. Fife:

"Reality is what you wake up in. Realty is what you wake up on."

"Realty is what you're going to wake up under if you keep cracking wise like that."
Among my favorites:

"Reality is an illusion, albeit a remarkably persistent one."
This isn't the one I was thinking of, but it works:
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away." -- Philip K. Dick

And this is the one I was thinking of:
"The border between the Real and the Unreal is not fixed, but just marks the last place where rival gangs of shamans fought each other to a standstill." -- Robert Anton Wilson

I was thinking in a more esoteric direction, actually. We know that "solid" matter is not solid, but is actually comprised of tiny whizzing bits that behave as if they were solid when they are not. Even if you know atomic structure, you're still stuck with an illusion that refuses to disperse.

*laugh* I love that.
