New Column: "How to Herd Cats: Essays on Pagan Leadership"

I am delighted to announce the launch of my new column, "How to Herd Cats: Essays on Pagan Leadership," appearing Mondays in The Daily Spell. The first installment, "Becoming a Leader," appears in the April 14 issue and explores how one becomes a leader.

I also have a review column, "Book Reviews from Hypatia's Hoard," currently appearing daily. The Daily Spell is posted Monday through Friday, and contains other interesting material including information on herbs, energy manipulation, Pagan community news, and other columns and features.

Feedback is welcome.

*LOVE* the title of the new column!!
It is, of course, a nod to the famous saying that "Leading Pagans is like herding cats."

It requires an understanding of their nature and an ability to think outside the box.

You open a can of tuna, yell, "Here kitty kitty!" and walk briskly in the direction you want the cats to go.

I look forward to reading more of them. Especially since I'm debating on working towards leadership.
That's cool. What aspect(s) of leadership are you interested in?
Not to sure. I guess deciding if I would want to go through it all to become a high priestess and start another coven. For now I'm thinking of just seeing how everything else goes before I get to that point since that would be years from now for me.
It's a good idea to take things slowly. Explore what your abilities and interests are. Start small -- maybe volunteer to organize one activity and see if you like it. Observe how people in charge do things, what works and what doesn't. Read some books on leadership in Paganism; Covencraft</i> is a good one about group dynamics.
Loved the article, I saw it in the Daily Spell along with a few book reviews you have done. Its nice to see a familiar person writing for a publication I read regularly. Keep up the good work..."pats on back"...
I appreciate the vote of confidence. I'm glad you enjoyed the piece.
very cool, and a decent introductory read.

Are you going to be posting here when new installments come out?
Yes, I will. The audience here seems to be interested enough in discussing the installment topics. Since the point is to get people thinking about what leadership is and how it can be done responsibly, I think we're off to a good start.
