Continued discussion of why people donate

The discussion on crowdfunding about why people donate to projects has continued to grow.  There are many fascinating ideas out there!  Different people have different models of handling their donations or deciding when to donate.  If you are a creator or donor in crowdfunding, you should read this post, or reread it for the new comments if you already looked last week.

Wow, the comments are overflowing! I'm glad I asked! :-D
You launched one of the most interesting and relevant posts the community has seen thus far. Thanks everso!

It might be interesting to do a poll listing all the various reasons, and see which are the most popular.
Not a bad idea! I'll give it a couple more days to die down and maybe pimp it once more on Twitter first.

I like asking questions. I'm glad this one got interest.
Bear in mind that LJ's high-traffic days are Monday and Tuesday. You'd probably get the most responses posting the poll tomorrow, or next Monday.
Next Monday it is. :-)

Thanks, I'd forgotten/never known that.
That's something I learned from the Poetry Fishbowls, the first full year I did them. Mondays and Tuesdays had the best participation. I wound up settling on Tuesdays because Monday is usually a shopping day for us.
One of my reasons is in a comment to something you said - I like to share stuff.

I liked seeing all the different answers.
