Low-Drama Writing Zones

I'm not a big fan of the "idol" concept, on television or LJ. But I spotted a reference in a community I frequent ... and found a couple of LJ-idol communities that are intended to share writing, hail the best of it, and minimize drama. If you're looking for something to read, a place to practice your critique skills, or prompts for writing practice, then consider thebrenljidol and brigits_flame.

Also worth noting is tellmeaboutit which is a nonvoting source of writing prompts.

If you want to be a writer ... go write. If you only have 5-10 minutes, blogging is a great practice medium. 10 minutes/day x 365 days/year = 60.8 hours of writing. Do anything for 60 hours and you'll be better at it afterwards than before.

Hey, thanks for the mention. :-) We've been working to kick the community up a notch- hopefully we'll make a good step there.
Personal networking makes the web go 'round, especially on LJ. I know some people get bitchy about promotions, but for me part of the fun is pointing my friends to great websites, communities, and other people's cool blogs.

You can also tell that I'm heavily into writing myself, and it's a popular topic on my blog here. Feel free to point people back this way if you think they'd enjoy it.
I'll bear that in mind. :-) I'm at work, but I'll make a point to check out the rest of your LJ!
