Yeah, I fell in love with that character soon as you introduced us. He is not the ... usual sort of priest, and as such makes a great counterpart to Fiorenza. I hope to see more of him in the future.

*nod* I expect that may develop into a running theme for this series. It's in "The Origami Mage" but at a very different angle; and there are glimmers of it in "Monster House" but there it's actually a base premise and all the action tends to happen well above that level. The personal differences are fare more salient in this series, because of the particular context -- the way that village life pushes people to work together and get along, because they're stuck with each other for the long haul. Of course it's possible for that to blow up, but in a healthy village, people learn to accommodate each other's quirks, even if it's with an inner sigh of exasperation sometimes. That can be interesting to explore, especially when you throw in complications outside the ordinary.
