Awards Update

I just heard that the Tiptree board of jurors have requested copies of newWitch #15 so they can read "Peaches from the Tree of Heaven," which was recently nominated.

Also, "Peaches from the Tree of Heaven" has just been nominated for The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror, a yearly compendium of the best in fantastic fiction, edited by Ellen Datlow, Kelly Link, and Gavin J. Grant.

Squeeee!

Okay, so it's always exciting when people fall in love with my work, especially when it gets nominated for awards. But I'm especially delighted that this story is generating extra attention so that more people will see it. "Peaches from the Tree of Heaven" is intended to make people think, and to start conversations; it raises more questions than it answers. That's what made it appeal to me enough to write it down, and I'm glad that it has the same effect on other people. Some stories I write mainly for entertainment; others are intended as an entertaining way to approach touchy subjects. This is one of the latter. It'll stand up to a deep discussion; there's enough there to really sink your teeth into.

oooOOOooo exciting!!!
Squee! :D
I want to read it so much! But New Witch #15 either hasn't arrived at the big bookstores around here or all the copies were already snapped up.
Ask if they can order a copy for you. Borders and Barnes & Noble can get magazines that way. (You may have to be really insistent about it; sometimes clerks will say they can't do that. But we talked to the corporate offices once, who say they can -- and are supposed to, and it's in their big book of store procedures.) I'll check with my boss to see if individual issues are available from us, too.
This is great! Hurray!
