Expanded Horizons

So I was out trawling Duotrope's Digest tonight for new poetry markets, when I stumbled across Expanded Horizons.  This market seeks speculative fiction, poetry, essays, reviews, etc. that support diversity of ethnic background, sexuality, religion, etc. among both authors and character portrayals.  One or the other can get you in, so don't despair if some of your aspects fit the mainstream.  Anyway, go check them out and boost the signal, while I dive back into my archives and stack up some poems for them.

Of my own work, it sounds like Zoruvar and Kanuvash might fit with Expanded Horizons. (I have a third now as well, just follow the "poetry" tag.)

I wonder... I should work more characters into that myth cycle.
And after more thoroughly perusing their guidelines, I'd have to say that most of my recent work might fit. Might.

May I ask a couple of items you're considering for submission to EH?
I sent them:
"Raving Angels"
"The Odd Trio"
"Middle Passage"
"Dates and the Desert"
"Hareshotten"
"The Dragon-Queen of Pirates"

Regrettably I had just sent out "Obiora the Huntress" to Star*Line. This batch does contain a good mix of different cultures, though, plus a couple of alt-sex pieces.

I think it's got a good chance, yes.

Wow.

You should, if you can find some. Certain cosmologies are narrow, though.
Actually, while reading those guidelines, I considered what sort of disabilities might be present in that culture's Powers... and got an idea, a twist on the blind seer, in that they're not actually blind. There's more to it, of course, but I'll have to write the poem before I reveal the whole idea. ;)
That sounds cool. I look forward to seeing it.
That's fascinating. It reminds me of Odin.
Canadian filker Phil Mills has a poetry-related app that's been released recently. Here's the link:
