Poetry Fishbowl Report for Tuesday, January 4, 2011

The January theme was "Urban Fantasy."  A lot of prompts came in, so I worked quite late: 12:15 PM to 3:15 AM, so about 13 hours allowing for breaks.  So far, this is the longest fishbowl session.  I wrote 23 poems, spread across all lengths.  There were a fair number of form poems this time, including some triolets.  Also there was a good balance between single-prompt and combined-prompt poems.  Guest appearances by Detroit, Michigan and various places in China also clustered.

A total of 22 people sent prompts, 4 of them new: two more records.  Woohoo!  Please welcome new prompters bodlon, kyleri, tuftears, and akilika.  They are responsible for the extra freebie poem this month.

Buy Some Poetry!
If you plan to sponsor some poetry but haven't made up your mind yet, read the list of unsold poems from January.  That includes the title, length, price, and the original thumbnail description for the poems still available.

Sponsored poems have been posted, and the rest sent to their respective prompters backchannel.  The January donor perk-post covers the triolet form.  Polling is completed and selected poems have also been posted.

Donors for January include: Christian Young, aldersprig, ladyqkat, janetmiles, kelkyag, the_vulture, red_trillium, marina_bonomi, laffingkat, and kyleri.  Welcome to new donors Christian Young and kyleri, who helped bring about that second freebie poem.  Thanks to everyone for their support and enthusiasm.

The Poetry Fishbowl project also has a permanent landing page.

13 hours? That's a long, hard slog. O.O

Then again, I can think of much, much worse ways to put bread on the table. :)
The fishbowl was actually open for 15 hours, from 12:15 PM to 3:15 AM. I count 2 hours for lunch, supper, and stretch breaks. So that leaves 13. Yes, it's a long time. Fun work, though.
