Poem: "Beneath Suspicion"

This poem came out of the January 4, 2011 Poetry Fishbowl.  It was inspired by prompts from xjenavivex, eseme, and kyleri.  It was sponsored out of general funds based on a recent poll.

Beneath Suspicion

They are thinner than threads, shining white-hot with power.
Blue sparks leap between their lithe bodies
Where they twine themselves around the third rail.
The subway runs on the backs of minute dragons

And the jaded riders never suspect a thing.

Dancing the line between electrons and creatures of fantasy?

I tend to think of magic and science as related forces, or perhaps, two end of a circular spectrum. They touch at the ends, when you get into things like high theory of magic and quantum physics. So yes, science fiction and fantasy also loop around, and can interweave with science; and that shows through in my poetry.

See, I had not thought the dragons in the Subway were tiny!

How neat. I really enjoyed getting this one in my message bax - it's a fun short surprise.

I like to make surprising versions of things.
