I don't care for crime dramas. I don't watch cop shows. I don't even read mysteries. It didn't matter. Your Stef's a Detective and Other Stories is so fresh and original, it transcends its genre. This collection of well-written stories reads like an episodic novel. Stephens deals directly with hot button issues of race and gender while avoiding the trap of sounding like she's moralizing. There's plenty of violence here, but it's presented in the context of crime investigation and is not over-laced with gory details. At the heart of the book is the sweet and loving marriage of its main character, Homicide detective Stefanie Tricarrico and her husband, Drew. "He's in narcotics." There's comedy to lighten the burden of crime-fighting, and the couple even have a signature pet, a black and white cat, named - I won't give it away. This book deserves a wide audience and its own series of film adaptations.

Servicewise, I would like to let folks know that I'm available for webprogramming, design and hosting. In particular, if they are looking for a non-standard site that does something specific that most out-of-the-box programs don't do, I welcome projects like that. I can do installs of Wordpress and other major programs in a pinch, but I love to solve the weirdo problems. I can also modify existing code. I make ritual tools, jewelry and other artwork out of bones, hides, beads and other such things. I am also the author of a few small-press neopagan nonfiction books, particularly dealing with animal magic, though I've also written a book on Otherkin, and also cowrote one on BDSM-flavored sex magic. And I do totem card readings, to include via email.
