This article nails several trends that make movies look the same. Most of them are sloppy renditions of a valid technique that works when 1) you know what you are doing, and 2) you are doing it for a story-valid reason. I was particularly intrigued by the precision of the explanation why some 3D movies suck: if they aren't made that way from the beginning, the process actually degrades the image quality. Good reason to boycott those.
