I tend to prefer low-consumption to "eco," per sé, but, then again, I'm very fond of the way we did our wedding - 10 guests, County Clerk's office, handmade dress, <$500 including rings & sushi "reception." Nothing to get ruined by pushy mothers (mother in law not invited), very little to stress about, and my father took the pictures :-)
Lowering consumption is eco-friendly, especially when you take something that's usually a huge event with dozens or hundreds of people and condense it to family size.

Talking to friends who went the hoooge wedding route - I've never regretted small & intimate. We said the words, and, really, that's what matters.
