I am most likely to comment on posts where I can help the poster with supplying information. (and on posts I have permission to read of course, which I can't with post you linked)

I scroll past posts copied from other forums, such as lists of twitter posts. It doesn't feel as though person is there to talk to. I like to keep my posts unique to each website, I may link a post but I don't copy across verbatum. Nothing is more irritating than to follow a link to find exactly same text instead of an expansion on it.

I probably don't make the kind of posts I would comment on.

I like the feeling of having some conversational friends on LJ but I don't use it as primary social interaction, for that I use twitter which is much faster and more responsive. I may use LJ to expand on points that there are not room to go into on twitter or facebook. LJ allows you to explain yourself.

So do I, although I may read Dreamwidth posts.

I do some of that. My Facebook is mostly an aggregator for my other activities, but I do use it for making very brief posts that wouldn't make much sense in LJ.
