True Colors: The Mural Restored

Thanks to community protests from the people of Prescott, Arizona, the mural will be restored to show the true colors of the students featured.  Link courtesy of shsilver.

I figured there had to be some non-racist citizens of Arizona -- hi, folks!  Thank you for speaking up.  You've made a difference.

I am sooo glad to see that.

Me too. The "race" pendulum is now swinging in crazy loops as lots of different people try to grab it.
One part of the story that is often overlooked is that the faces which caused the "uproar" (I'm not sure one loudmouth is worth the term) were actually depictions of actual students at the school, not just made up faces.
That's what makes the whitewashing incident such an outrage. It has been a salient point in almost all of the discussions I have seen and linked, but then, I'm pulling it from groups that specialize in education and/or ethnic studies.
Thanks for posting this--glad that this was the eventual conclusion.
Often a news item crosses my desk just once. For those that really catch my interest, and display an evolving story, I do try to track them over time and include updates. I felt that was especially important in this case because it shows that activism CAN make positive changes. Plus Arizona's reputation has been justifiably dragged through the mud, but no group is monolithic, so I wanted to call attention to some of Arizona's more open-minded citizens.
I agree that follow-up is very, very important.
I'm really glad positive voices were listened to. :)
