In which an author makes money and people hate him for it...

This is stupid.

Because what, only executives are worth real money?  This is America.  He's making money, and he's not breaking the law and -- bonus! he's also not injuring anyone's health or destroying the environment.  Shut the fuck up.

o_O

good grief.
I had to laugh. Or cry. And laughing's healthier. Besides, it's incredibly ludicrous for people to make a law that says the funds have to be used for something, and then complain because it was used for that exact something.
Gaah.

And the one newspaper wanting the money to be used for a stupid stadium instead - like those athletes and owners are so poor and downtrodden. Bread and circuses instead of literature.
That's a lot of suckage. Neil Gaiman does a lot of good with his earnings, and he works hard for it. It sounds like someone got a royal bee up their bumm and decided to put him in the middle of it.

That's a bummer. He's a good person, does good stuff and shouldn't catch shit for what he charges. He works hard for it.
"$45,000? For a Sci Fi Author? I’ve never heard of you.

That’s okay. I’ve never heard of you either."
