New Plantings

I've gotten a few things planted, but today's wind is flogging the daylights out of my plants.  I did manage to snap a few photos...

This is the newly planted Goddess Garden, with the statue returned to the center (it has to come indoors for winter) and the ring of moss roses set out.  The long green leaves are the snow crocus, which will soon wither away.

Here is the whole wildflower garden with the dead leaves raked off; it doesn't look like much in spring.  The big blue-green bundles are comfrey.  Most of the other spiky green stuff is some kind of coneflower.

Several new things went into my wildflower garden.  This is cleome, of which I bought a 4-pack in mixed colors.

This is sweet rocket, which is about to bloom in some shade of blue or purple.

I have now added yellow coneflower to the pink and the green that this garden previously had.

This is Tatarian aster, which the bees are sure to love.

This is larkspur.  I like the finely divided foliage.  Much of the wildflower garden has lanceolate foliage.

Lovely! Makes me miss my garden and my herb garden. Ah well, I'll have to start over with that, right along with everything else, when I finally get my own place.

It's nice to see yours and enjoy it vicariously; thanks for sharing.
I'm glad you're enjoying these pictures.

*hugs* I hope you find a wonderful new place with terrific gardening potential.
That statue looks like she's buried up to the shoulders in the ground.
I envision her rising up out of the ground, myself. She's an Earth goddess, after all. I dig a hole and bury the bottom inch or two of the statue so that it stays secure and looks like part of the ground.
IMO you just planted a goddess statue in the hope that she'll sprout a full-blown cathedral in your garden. ^_^
*chuckle* I should be so fortunate.
I like this! That dirt looks so awesome too. Much better than the sand we have here.
The dirt in the Goddess Garden is our normal topsoil here: black glacial till. It goes down 1-2 feet.

The dirt in the wildflower garden is actually subsoil, which is mostly clay in various shades of brown, yellow, and red. There was some digging done a few years ago, and that area got turned over. I threw down a lot of wildflower seed. Most of the area has since returned to grass, but that patch had a lot of flowers stick, so I rimmed it with logs about 3 years back. I've thrown in some potting soil and mulch, but it's still not very good soil. *chuckle* Which is actually right for certain types of wildflowers, so it's not a problem.
Neat-o! Makes me wish I had outdoor space to garden in. For now, I must be content with the progress of my baby tomato and pepper plants that I'm growing on my windowsill.
I'm glad you like these.

Do what you can with what you have. In my case, accomplishments are limited by body and budget rather than yard space. I still manage to get some stuff done. Even a windowbox brings greenery to life, and is well worth doing.
Baby plants are good! I'm looking forward to seeing them grow big and strong.
I hope the seedlings survive. The weather is horribly windy again today. :(
That is really cool!
