I have always found it a great irony that a nation of immigrants has periodically decided "no, immigrants are all bad" and tried to keep newcomers out. A bit sad really.
In point of fact, a nation of illegal immigrants. Genocidal, thieving, slave-running ones. It's not like the natives wanted the Europeans to come here; they were simply outnumbered and outgunned.

American history is not pretty. I get frustrated when people forget those very expensive lessons. Freesh, America has fought at least two wars (Civil War & WWII) involving the idea that it's not okay to abuse people just for belonging to a different ethnic group. I really wish people would get it through their heads that "all (hu)men are created equal."
Yeah, that's a good one.
