Crowdfunding the Movie Titania

I'm intrigued by this crowdfunding project which aims to raise money to film a fantasy movie, Titania.  Why is this so cool?  Well, Hollywood has a bad habit of making movies that are all sizzle and no steak.  If you don't like that kind of movie, then there's little on the big screen worth your time.  The independent film field is pretty small, because even a small film takes a lot of money to make.  But imagine what crowdfunding could do -- open the doors for more creative movies, whatever catches the fancy of enough fans to fund it.  I think that has great potential.

I think this is brilliant! Having been part of fan-funding of their favourite artists either financially or promotionally three times so far, the experience is gratifying, enlightening, and brings the fans closer to the object of their admiration, reminding all of us that we're simply human who share a common and very special (at least to us) goal. This is wonderful news.
I agree that's part of the fun to crowdfunding, getting more involved. Now you don't have to be a passive consumer; you can influence what actually gets made. If you don't have much creative talent yourself, that's okay, you can look for projects that match your ideals and support those. You want more strong women, brown heroes, lesbians who survive to the end? Hunt through crowdfunding projects until you find them. Wave money in the air. Make things happen.
