Photography: Lilacs and Honeysuckle

More and different flowers are blooming for you to see.

The lilacs are now fully open.

The honeysuckle bushes are blooming.  Some are pure white; others start with pink buds that fade to ivory.

My purple-pink-white tulip bed under the tree is in full bloom.  Most of these are late-season tulips.

The columbine in my rain garden beside the house has just started to bloom.  It is white with a faint blush of lavender.

This interesting little weed produces tiny pink-purple flowers.  I think it's ground ivy.

The peonies are producing buds, but haven't bloomed yet.  If you look closely, you may spot the ants.  Although scientists say that ants and peonies are not strictly symbiotes, the ants do like the sweet resin that peonies secrete and they will bite anything that touches the plant.  So there's some aspect of mutual benefit there.

I have some more photos, including:
* Closer and longer views of the lilacs
* More pictures of honeysuckle buds and blossoms
* Closeups of white, pink, and purple tulips
* Closeups of the columbine flowers
* Sweet woodruff in bloom
* Dandelions in bloom and seed puffs

Several artists have posted samples of their sketch pages, with more sketches being available if people want to sponsor some.  I'm trying something similar with photography.  So if you want to see more, $1 will get you two extra photos.  (You can use the PayPal button on my profile page, or contact me for other options.)  Your choice of 1/4 size like these, or full-size; I'll try to remember to put them behind a cut.  Doug's camera seems to be shooting at 1600x1200, and I usually reduce the size to 400x300.  I've tried keying in half-size but it doesn't show up that way.

These are pretty. I love columbine! One of the places I lived for awhile in Calif, Lagunitas, there were wild columbines in the forests. I loved going on walks and seeing them.

I have some macros of acorns I took this weekend. They didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped but some turned out decent. I might post them over the next few nights or next weekend.
There are wild columbine plants growing where my parents live. Acorns are nifty too.
God I miss both lilac and columbine so much. You get them down here sometimes (NC), but both, especially the lilac, were much more common in Kentucky where I grew up. Here we get wisteria and crepe myrtle which are nice but, well, not what I grew up with!

We had a lilac bush in our back yard that was very, very dark purple. We used to cut willow branches and make crowns out of lilac and willows when we were kids. It was so idyllic/pastoral you could hardly stand it, haha.
My lilacs are such a pale lavender that they are almost white when fully opened. I would like to have different colors, white and darker purple, as well as these.
All you need is a copy of Alcott's _Under The Lilacs_, & Bjorn Stronginthearm's your uncle!

What are the pink-purple weeds? They are not ground ivy but they do taste very sweet, if you know someone who does know or you know them yourself please tell me
