WOW! Thank you for sharing this sky with us. I haven't ever seen northern lights photographed in this way before, those are incredible. I love northern lights. I was lucky enough to see some here in Michigan a few winters ago (for 2 nights), but it is a very rare occurrence. What a fulfilling way to spend one's nights.
I've never seen them like that, but I've seen them in Illinois once or twice during peak solar activity. A faint, deep green sheet over much of the sky, that would ripple and flare occasionally. I was still awed by it.
Right, I've never seen them that thick before. Ours were faint also. They were kinda like stripes. Still awesome indeed! :)
Can't wait for the next peak in solar flare activity so I can hopefully spot some aurora... We saw it a couple of times the last time there was a peak - it's one of the perks of living in Scotland.

There's a great site called 'AuroraWatch' which gives on-line warnings of aurora activity. I'm not sure if it works in the US, too, but there's probably a similar site in America...
